In a new twist to the ongoing political feud, former Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken legal action against Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel by sending him a defamation notice. Khan is demanding a staggering Rs10 billion in damages for Patel's recent allegations regarding his mental stability and claims of finding traces of alcohol and an illegal drug in his urine.
The defamation notice, dispatched on Tuesday, characterizes Patel's statements as "wrongful, baseless, false, misleading, erroneous, malicious, and defamatory." It further asserts that Patel's remarks have caused substantial harm to Khan's reputation, tarnished his goodwill, and resulted in an assault on his honor.
In response to the alleged defamation, Khan's legal team has insisted that Patel retract his statements, issue a public apology to Khan, and pay the substantial sum of Rs10 billion in damages. Failure to comply with these demands within 15 days could result in Khan pursuing legal proceedings against Patel.
